Meet Jody Blackwood

Jody Blackwood is a personal stylist with impeccable fashion credentials. Jody has never sat down and planned her career, it just needed to be creative. She studied Art at Auckland University, worked within the fashion industry in retail management and fashion buying roles, spent time styling live fashion shows, magazine editorial & advertising photo shoots as well as a couple of years working as make-up artist and wardrobe assistant for film and television – the industry where she met her husband Tony.

Jody has an enviable amount of energy and creativity. As well as being mum to two little girls; Layne and Scout and knowing all about having to juggle the balance of work and home, she has a sideline business as a jewellery designer (you might own a piece of Blackwood Design jewellery which retails throughout NZ & Australia). Jody also designs a range of children’s T-shirts and men’s shirts. In her spare time (yes, it’s hard to believe she has any), she collects mid-century ceramics, art and furniture and enjoys adding these stylish touches to her 1960s home. After all of that, she still finds time to crack out the recipe books and is known among her friends as being an excellent cook, as both she and Tony enjoy entertaining groups of friends around their table.

Jody loves to learn new things and as well as being a constant reader of books, she is an avid devourer of fashion magazines and has an innate understanding and memory for trends that is off the scale – "Oh, that’s a Marc Jacobs print they are using there…"

Jody has an incredible eye for style and the Signature Style clients that work with her enjoy her friendly and open manner while she encourages them to step beyond their comfort zone and see themselves in an entirely new light. She can accessorise an outfit brilliantly, knows just what will work to create the right look and where to find it, and she loves to impart that knowledge to her clients.
