A question for you: is your wardrobe full of gorgeous outfits you just love or a bunch of very average ‘bits’ that don’t really work together, don’t inspire you and certainly don’t enhance your ‘look’?
If you’ve been forced to admit that things aren’t looking too flash in the wardrobe department – here’s another question . . . why on earth did you buy all those average, uninspired pieces? Gosh, didn’t that sound harsh. But really girls, we’re not talking the difference between having a huge shopping budget or none at all – we’re talking thoughtful, creative purchases creating a number of outfits that ‘work’. That is, they fit your budget, your lifestyle and your own personal style. Remember – style isn’t reserved for skinny chicks, fashionistas and Newmarket regulars – everyone can be stylish. Yes, all you mums, yes all you students, yes all you ladies over fifty!
So! Instead of making a mad dash for the mall on a Saturday morning and picking up a few randomly picked items because you just don’t have time – make a point of blocking out some serious time and hit the shops with a shopping list and a strong idea of the look you’re going for. This means you won’t be swayed by gushing shop assistants and you’ll come home with outfits that work, outfits you enjoy wearing, outfits that make you feel gorgeous. That is the point, after all?
Here’s your challenge - summer is nearly upon us and there’s a whole world of colour and fashion delights out there. But hold up – work it out first. Grab a magazine, see what’s in style and then be objective. Would that colour work for you, how about the cut of that dress or jacket, would that piece fit in with your lifestyle? A truly stylish person is always objective about themself and knows how to play up the assets and skim over the difficult bits. Pick elements of current fashion that work for you and leave those that don’t – stylish people are never fashion victims!
Come on now, waking up in the morning and slipping into an outfit that flatters your colouring, your shape and generally makes you feel a million bucks . . . worth a little time and effort? I think so!
