Headache- Free Holiday Packing

Written by Signature Style on November 29th, 2011.      1 comments

We’ve all been guilty of overstuffing our suitcases and still struggling to find something suitable to wear once we reach our destination. Here the mantra ‘less is more’ really comes into its own and even if you bring a huge choice of garments, it’s likely you’ll have the same few favourites on rotation the entire time. Holidays are a time for relaxation and fun and the last thing you want to be doing spending hours sifting through a pile of clothes worrying about what goes with what. Travel wardrobes work best as a "capsule" where everything mixes and matches to work together and give you plenty of different outfits and options.

Holiday Packing

Here’s our recommended packing list:

2 jackets - one casual and the other could be a lightweight or lacy cardigan.
2 casual skirts - a couple of these or trade out for trousers if you prefer.
2 pair of trousers - one smart casual pair that you can dress up with a glam top or down with a tee and jacket, the other could be a pair of smart shorts.

Dress - At least one, maybe take two. I have a simple navy knit dress that I'm able to dress up by adding a bit of glam jewellery and high heels, and dress down by wearing it with a pair of flat sandals.

5 Tops: The key here is to have a mix of casual and dressy - maybe take 3 casual and 2 dressy so you can add a bit of glam to your trousers.

Shoes and accessories: these define your 'mood', so some dressy and some casual, so that depending on what you are doing you look 'right'. If you choose well, all your tops should mix with your bottom halves (e.g. put a sparkly top on with your shorts and add a high heel to go out in the evening, or wear flat sandals and a tee during the day); the jacket and cardi will work over all outfits and you can change your look easily.

Swimwear- If it’s a beach based holiday then don’t forget your togs! Depending on how much time you plan to spend pool side or on the beach, one or two items of swimwear should be fine, plus a kaftan or sarong as a cover-up.
If you need a hand creating your holiday capsule wardrobe or if last years garments are looking tired and old, book in for a shopping trip with us and rather than a stressful chore to check off your never-ending to-do list, we promise to transform the experience into a thoroughly enjoyable treat.
